9th Grade Choice Day

Overnight trips and choice days are some of the many events students at Trevor get excited about and love to experience. Juniors, and seniors go on overnight trips once a year and freshmen go on a day trip called “Choice Day.” Overnight trips are usually 1 or 2 nights. This is a time to talk with new people in your grade and make unforgettable memories with your friends. Each grade goes to a different place for overnight trips and gets to experience different activities. I interviewed Katherine Schmidt, who is a junior. Katherine has been at Trevor since Pre-K, and has attended multiple Trevor trips. This past fall, she went to Connecticut’s Club Getaway for one night and did many activities with her grade. They did bonding activities, ropes courses, slept in cabins at night, gathered around campfires, and did a game show. Katherine’s favorite part of her overnight trip was getting to bond with her grade as a whole. She also really enjoyed talking to new people and getting to know more about them. Her most memorable moment on her overnight trip was when, one night, they played a game show and pied each other in the face. Katherine’s favorite activity on the overnight trip was ziplining in the forest, because it's a memory she won't forget. This overnight trip is a highlight for high schoolers and if you are a freshman like me, Choice Day is a memorable trip. but if you are a freshman like me, you would be doing choice day. Choice Day is a day when you can choose out of a few options where to go for a day trip and it's on the same day as when the sophomores, juniors and seniors have their overnight trip. This year, I went to STREB for Choice Day. STREB is a really fun place where attendees can go on trampolines, swing on trapezes, run obstacles courses, and do gymnastics. I had a really great time at STREB and I would highly recommend it for any freshmen who have this choice. My most memorable memory at STREB was when I swung upside down on the trapeze. It was really scary at first but super fun once you do it. As a gymnast, I had an amazing time at STREB and really enjoyed choice day. In Katherine’s opinion she enjoyed overnight trips more because it's a new experience and she really likes how it's out of the city and into nature.
