Mystery, cynicism, outcasts. All three are significant components of Leigh Bardugo's duology, Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. Six of Crows centers around six characters: Kaz, Inej, Nina, Jesper, Mattias, and Wylan. Within a city of crime and magic, each of them brings their own set of skills to the table. Kaz, hired to perform a near-impossible mission in the most bustling city in their town, is instructed to build a crew to help him accomplish it. So he chooses the strongest people he knows, and now they must work together to try to complete it. The characters' relationships are complicated and often change throughout the novel, which only adds to the sense of intrigue.

In a review by blogger Bookish Wayfarer, she described the novel as follows: “From its cast of morally grey, complex characters to its engrossing and twist-filled plot, Six of Crows is a fascinating and highly entertaining read.” While the author doesn't plan to write another book for the duology, she is currently writing a short story collection for the book's 10th anniversary. In addition, Bardugo has more books set in the Grisha Universe. Her other series are now published as a Netflix series. If you like fantasy, romance, and a book that never calms down for even a moment, then this is the book for you.
