Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball Complete Successful Seasons

This past month, the girls and boys varsity basketball teams made it to the league and state championships! The girls varsity basketball team, led by captains Lola Sondik, Linnea AgostaLyon, and Spring Parker, beat #2 seed Grace Church in the semifinals. After defeating Grace Church, the girls went up against UNIS. Although they did not win, the girls still secured a spot in the state championships. The following week the girls went up against LREI (Little Red Elizabeth Iriwin). After crushing LREI 49-24, they advanced to the quarterfinals where they played Riverdale. Unfortunately, after a long game with two overtimes they lost 50-46. Congratulations on an amazing season, girls!

Like the girls' varsity basketball team, the boys' varsity basketball team, led by captains Luke Gorenstein, Alex Nitz, York Bonnell, and Jack Moineau, also had a successful season. After a close game against Browning, the boys entered the league championships as the #1 seed. Even after a well-played game against Columbia Prep, the boys did not win. Nonetheless, they too earned a spot in the state championships. After an exciting overtime win against York Prep 76-70, the boys advanced to the quarterfinals where they played Friends Seminary. After an intense game, they lost by only 5 points. Congratulations on a great season!
