Trevor Choir Takes the Stage

At Trevor, chorus concerts are one of many events that occur during the year where students showcase several different performances they worked on as a class. Each choir has its winter concert. This year, the winter concert was on Wednesday, December 18th at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium. Each of Trevor’s choir classes work on new music pieces every semester and present them at these concerts. This is a great opportunity for kids who have a passion for music and love to perform. The choirs also sing holiday songs that are incorporated into the concerts.

In the chorus, sometimes there are opportunities to have a solo in a song. For kids who love singing, having this solo opportunity can be a great start to their futures in music at Trevor. The Middle and Upper School chorus teacher is Ms. Taylor. Students in Ms. Taylor’s class enjoy learning songs in different styles. For this upcoming chorus concert, they incorporated different genres of music into the lineup. They have a calm, instrumental song called “Silver Rain,” and there are multiple different groups of people singing different tunes at the same time which makes it a complex and elaborate song to sing.

Another song the choir is performing is more upbeat and is in English and Arabic. The song also has multiple groups singing different parts, creating a layered effect. Another unique element of chorus concerts is that the attire that the singers wear goes well together and brings the concert to life. Each chorus has a different dress code: for example, the Treble chorus wears all black with a red scarf, and the Middle school wears white tops and black pants and shoes. This coordinated costuming makes the concert all the more engaging and professional. The choir will also have a spring concert later in the year.
