Are Trevor sports better this year? It sure seems that way. Between stellar records and upcoming playoff appearances, school athletics are thriving.

Boys Varsity Soccer went 5-0-2 in the regular season, ending as both the only undefeated team and the team with the most goals in NYCAL (with 17). They went on to beat Loyola in the NYCAL semifinals on October 16 before falling to Lycée Français 3-0 in the finals. But just days before an appearance in the NYSAIS State Tournament, spirits are high. “There's definitely an atmosphere of intensity,” said goalie Quinn J. ‘26. “We want this, and we have a chance to do something historic.” Quinn credits the team’s success to “the atmosphere,” remarking, “this team has just been so in tune with each other from the start.”

Heading into Columbia University playoffs as the first seed with an 8-1 in-league record, Girls Varsity Tennis is also reaching new heights. Captain Liv C. ‘26 credited the team’s unity: “It's hard to imagine this season without this group. We’ve gotten so close both on and off the court.” She did not hesitate to praise the team, saying, “It feels like we get second in the league every year. Now we’re first, and it’s a great feeling.”

Boys Varsity Cross Country is modeling a similar Trevorian excellence. After winning their third NYCAL championship in a row, several runners are preparing for the NYSAIS Cross Country tournament. Theo Y. ‘27 noted that Boys Varsity Cross Country’s success is a “continuation” of past growth. At the same time, he remarked, “I've loved watching my teammates develop into the best runners that they can be.” Cross Country, while perennially successful, is clearly hitting its stride.

As the fall season comes to a close, studentathletes are evaluating their success while preparing for winter sports. It’s hard to tell if athletics are truly better this year, but one thing is certain: the Dragons are setting the standard for seasons to come.
