This year, the Global Studies Program at Trevor is taking students’ education beyond the classroom and across the world. Under the leadership of Mr. Chang, Trevor’s new head of Global Studies, the program offers a series of immersive international trips designed to connect students with world history, culture, and current events.
Partnering with American Council for International Studies (ACIS), a group specializing in educational travel for high school groups, the program will provide students with safe, organized, and meaningful experiences abroad. “At Trevor, we believe that travel is one of the most powerful ways students can grow, learn, and see the world differently,” said Mr. Chang during the October 8th Trevor Global Studies Travel Presentation. “ACIS has consistently impressed me with their professionalism, organization, and commitment to safety and educational quality.”
Spring Break Adventures
During spring break, students in 9th-12th grade will have the opportunity to choose between two unique journeys—one focused on history and remembrance, and the other on cultural exploration.
The Holocaust Remembrance Trip will take participants across Europe to explore sites of profound historical significance. Students will visit key locations tied to World War II and the Holocaust, including museums and preserved concentration camps. The trip aims to deepen students’ understanding of human rights, resilience, and the importance of remembrance. Expert-led tours will help students connect the lessons of history to the modern world.
For those drawn to the East, the Highlights of Japan trip promises an unforgettable exploration of Japanese culture, history and innovation. Travelers will experience a blend of ancient tradition and cutting-edge modernity as they visit cities like Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. From temples and tea ceremonies to bustling city life, this trip offers students a firsthand look at Japan’s rich cultural heritage and its role in today’s global community.
Summer Expeditions
The Global Studies Program’s adventures are set to continue into summer break, offering two equally exciting destinations that are open to current 8th-11th-grade students. Students interested in biodiversity and ecology can embark on the Ecuador and Galápagos Islands trip. This journey takes travelers from the vibrant streets of Quito to the breathtaking natural wonders of the Galápagos. Known for inspiring Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution, the islands provide an extraordinary classroom for studying wildlife, conservation and environmental science. Snorkeling with sea turtles and hiking through volcanic landscapes, students will experience nature at its best.
For history enthusiasts, the Ancient Egypt trip offers a step back in time to one of the world’s earliest civilizations. Participants will explore the Guardian Sphinx of Giza, the Valley of the Kings, and the temples along the Nile River. Through guided tours and hands-on-learning, students will gain insight into the art, architecture and daily life of ancient Egypt and how its legacy continues to shape modern society.
A World Of Learning
Mr. Chang emphasized that the Global Studies Program is about creating lasting connections between education and travel. “Every trip is thoughtfully designed to inspire students and help them feel supported throughout the journey,” he said. “Our goal is for each traveler— students and teachers alike—to come home not just with memories, but with a deeper sense of curiosity and understanding about the world.” With destinations spanning four continents, this year’s Global Studies program offers students a chance to see the world, and themselves, in a new light.
