Yearbook Club Process

Every June, as students celebrate their last days of school and anticipate the coming summer months, the yearbook is released. Many students carry these books with them to adulthood and look back on fond times with their friends, which makes the Yearbook club such a significant part of high school at Trevor. One of the most important and complicated aspects of the yearbook is picking the theme. On this topic, Yearbook Editor Liv C. ’26 said that “coming up with a good theme without copying pages over and over again is difficult. People don’t realize how difficult it is to keep everything original and interesting.” As a result, the yearbook's pictures and theme remain a secret until the end of the year to prevent students from complaining or protesting against the theme.
The brunt of the work for the yearbook occurs at the beginning of the year, which is difficult for many students who are slowly readjusting to school and trying to maintain or raise their grades. Liv, a three-season varsity athlete with many impending college deadlines, encourages students–especially seniors–to submit their photos early. Currently, there are only six students and two teachers, Ms. Gleason and Ms. Mezo, who are devoted to taking and acquiring pictures to create an engaging yearbook. Liv said that teacher involvement is incredibly helpful to submitting pictures on time, and that Ms. Schoenike, the coordinator for all high school clubs, has been helpful in encouraging students to take their club photos for the yearbook.
Although the club may sometimes be stressful, Liv said that the Yearbook is “a little family,” run with the help of great faculty advisors and made joyful by the enthusiasm that club members share for building the Yearbook. Any student is encouraged to help the Yearbook club by submitting any photos requested before the deadline or, better yet, joining the club and participating in this commemorative yearly tradition.
