Offbeat Christmas Classics
“Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses: this new wave tune tells an irreverent and cynical story of one victim of holiday fatigue. The lively bassline underscores reflective lyrics, creating a catchy song that leaves listeners hoping for a happy ending. “River” by Joni Mitchell: from the 1971 album Blue, “River” is a haunting, melancholic song that departs from any typical seasonal liveliness. Although it’s not technically a Christmas song, Mitchell transforms the wintertime

Sunrise at Trevor
Early in the morning on Tuesday, December 3rd, Trevor’s Class of 2025 congregated in the twelfth floor gym to watch the sun rise over the East River. This marked the school’s first ever official Senior Sunrise: with the close of the fall semester approaching, the event provided the senior class with a much-needed break from schoolwork. Ms. Rogener, the 12th grade dean, organized the event in collaboration with the Student Council. Senior Sunrise did require something of a com

Community Perspectives on the Thanksgiving Day Parade
Almost every year, I go to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with my parents. I love seeing all of the balloons and the floats, the old ones and the new ones. A major part of the parade are these giant balloons that take up most of the street in the sky. Dr. M is one of the teachers at Trevor who is a balloon handler. Curious about balloon handling and how it works, I spoke to Dr. M to learn more. When did you start doing the parade? I started in Fall 2021 when the parade ca

New at Nick's
During free periods and lunchtime, Trevor students have the opportunity to explore new locations to eat and socialize. In the Upper East Side area, there are several beloved restaurants and cafes that students regularly visit for snacks or smaller lunches. However, students who participate in extracurricular activities or live nearby may be in search of a more filling meal, and Nick’s Pizza delivers exactly that. As the name suggests, Nick’s has several options for pizza, bu

Model UN Mania: Adventures in Global Diplomacy
As winter approaches, with the last of teenage boys’ shorts finally replaced by Adidas sweatpants and Mr. Feigin’s morning greetings featuring a coat, Trevor is a flurry of activity. Between academics and extracurriculars, students seem to be constantly running from classroom to classroom, always preparing for the next major event. Model UN is no exception. Every Thursday, students file into a ninth-floor room and ready themselves for 50 minutes of global politics and extens

With the blasting music reverberating throughout the rink, the energy and enthusiasm remain high. The songs include hits from a variety of decades and excite students and parents. Inside there were many food options that hit the spot after multiple laps around the rink. Wollman Rink’s cateri

Trevor Choir Takes the Stage
At Trevor, chorus concerts are one of many events that occur during the year where students showcase several different performances they worked on as a class. Each choir has its winter concert. This year, the winter concert was on Wednesday, December 18th at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium. Each of Trevor’s choir classes work on new music pieces every semester and present them at these concerts. This is a great opportunity for kids who have a passion for music and love to perform.

Climate Corner: Forest and Brush Fires
Welcome back to this issue’s Climate Corner! In this installment, we will discuss the recent brush and forest fires that have broken out all across the New York area. In the early weeks of November, if you smelled a campfire in the air, it was due to unexpected brushfires and wildfires in Prospect Park and the Palisades. From November 8th to 9th, Prospect Park erupted into a brushfire. The fire’s root cause was a drought that plagued the city for weeks: it was one of the most

Trevor Students Connect at School Under New Phone Policies
To many, the new Trevor phone policy seems absolutely absurd. Most of Trevor’s Upper School students have never experienced a day without their phones accessible, therefore they find it insane to have this device taken away from them. As attested by an eleventh-grade student, students should have “access to their phones at all times because everyone has a special case”. Moreover, another eleventhgrade student claims that “if [we] want to go on our phones, then we will. If we
